The annual Funds Europe Awards ceremony took place on November 10th, at the iconic Tower of London. The event was hosted by Samira Ahmed, the journalist and broadcaster whose work mainly covers BBC television and radio.

Colin Purdie of Aviva Investors emerged as CIO of the Year.

Joining Colin in being honoured for individual achievement was Thomas Richter, the head of the German investment funds association, BVI. He won the Personality of the Year award for his vociferous campaigning over issues such as investor information and the high costs of market data.

Other winners included JP Morgan Asset Management in the large asset manager category, and BNP Paribas for the European Custodian of the Year award.

Award-winning journalist and broadcaster Samira Ahmed presents the BBC's flagship arts and culture programme Front Row on Radio 4 and Newswatch on BBC1. Her documentaries include Art of Persia (BBC4), I Dressed Ziggy Stardust and Disgusted, Mary Whitehouse (both Radio 4). Previously a news anchor and correspondent at Channel 4 News, BBC News and Deutsche Welle TV in Berlin, she's won the Stonewall Broadcaster of the Year award (2009) and was named Audio Presenter of the Year 2020 by the British Broadcasting Press Guild.
